Advancements in scholarly communication continue to rapidly transform the information landscape, and Mississippi State Libraries is announcing the phased rollout of two new resources to greatly benefit scholars and researchers.
With this innovation top of mind, MSU Libraries is announcing the brand new availability of CloudSource OA, with the upcoming addition of Article Galaxy Scholar beginning this fall. CloudSource OA is a comprehensive research tool that offers access to over 55 million high-quality, open access scholarly journal articles, textbooks, eBooks and open educational resources with a single click directly from the catalog. Article Galaxy Scholar is an innovative document delivery service that also will provide access to journals not currently available.
Dean of Libraries Lis Pankl said CloudSource OA is a relatively new product that is actively shaped by user feedback. She explained that the adoption of these resources will free up funds for the creation of transformative search-tool opportunities that were previously unavailable. This includes a recently executed agreement that gives MSU full access to JSTOR.
Pankl said innovations in delivery and discoverability of current and authoritative research are lessening higher education’s dependence on traditional and costly vendor packages.
“The implementation of CloudSource OA and Article Galaxy Scholar will allow the library to meet individual research needs at a much higher level than before. We are excited to offer these upgraded services to the campus community,” she said.
As MSU Libraries implements the new services, some of the more costly databases will be discontinued. During this trial period, MSU Libraries seeks feedback. Please reach out directly to Pankl at lis@library.msstate.edu to communicate any unmet needs.
MSU Libraries administrators are committed to using the electronic resources budget as efficiently and wisely as possible and believe these new resources will be a “game changer” for MSU scholars and researchers.
More information and tutorials on these new products will be available soon at the MSU Libraries website, library.msstate.edu.
