STARKVILLE, Miss.—Mississippi State kicks off a new school year this month with a variety of events welcoming new Bulldogs and returning students to campus. The university will be bustling with activities leading up to the start of classes on Aug. 17.
The first students will settle in at their campus residences this weekend beginning with Panhellenic students and New Maroon campers.
“The start of a new academic year is always a very exciting time on campus. Welcoming our new students and their families to their new college home is an important part of the start of the fall term,” said MSU Vice President for Student Affairs Regina Hyatt. “We can’t wait to help our students find connections through student organizations and campus events, and engage with the many resources we have available to aid in their success and transition to college. It’s great to be starting a new year.”
From Aug. 8-12, MSU is hosting the eighth New Maroon Camp, a series of student-led events that help acclimate incoming freshmen and transfers to the university by introducing them to its history and traditions. These fun activities help students get to know their peers and familiarize themselves with campus. Additional information can be found at www.newmaroon.msstate.edu or by following @NewMaroonCamp on social media.
The university’s official move-in weekend, known as MVNU2MSU or Movin’ You to MSU, is scheduled for Aug. 13-14. Students who signed up for move-in time slots in July will check in at the Sanderson Center or the Animal and Dairy Sciences Building before proceeding to their assigned residence hall.
