Registration open for Service D.A.W.G.S. Day participants, site leaders

Service D.A.W.G.S. Day is a fun opportunity for MSU students, faculty and staff and members of the surrounding community to give back through volunteering. This year, Service D.A.W.G.S. Day is scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 22 from 10 a.m.-noon and begins at the community agency of the volunteer's choosing via slots listed below, Cowbell Connect under the 'SERVICE' tab, or the sign-up link at bit.ly/MSUGP and log in via myState.

The deadline to register as a participant is Aug. 21.

To minimize physical contact due to COVID-19, day-of sign-ups and transportation will be not be available.

Day Site Leader ApplicationsAt 10 a.m., volunteers will head directly to the community agency they signed up for and should find their site leader who will be wearing a Service D.A.W.G.S. Day shirt with "Site Leader" labeled across the nape of the neck. Site leaders are undergraduate and graduate students who have volunteered to direct various service projects for Service D.A.W.G.S. Day. Those interested in volunteering as site leaders can click here to apply. The deadline to sign up to be a site leader is Aug. 16.

Each participant will receive a free T-shirt at his or her respective service site. The Maroon Volunteer Center, along with other MSU student organizations, will host an information table on the back patio of Barnes & Noble at MSU. Attendees are directed to come to this location if they have questions/concerns, need directions to their service sites, or need a snack or drink.

Around noon or once volunteers have completed service for the day, Aramark will provide optional meal tickets for pick up at the information table on Barnes & Noble's back patio.

Health Guidelines:

MSU's Office of Student Leadership and Community Engagement highly recommends following all CDC guidelines, MSU recommendations, and Guidelines for Student Life Activities to engage safely in Service D.A.W.G.S. Day. To mutually protect the MSU community, community partners and their clientele and provide a safe environment, everyone at this event is required and agrees to practice the following: self-screening, on-site temperature checks, wearing face coverings, frequent sanitization, and physical distancing of at least 6 feet. Also, the university has published requirements for the use of face coverings while on campus. Those who are not able to wear a face covering due to a medical condition may request accommodations through the Office of Disability Support Services.
