MSU tightens student housing guidelines

The Mississippi State University Department of Housing and Residence Life continues to partner with MSU officials to monitor hourly COVID-19 updates. Based upon recent updates, we recommend that all students return home or to their permanent residence and not return to their on-campus residence at this time. This includes both students who live in residence halls and those who live in fraternity or sorority houses.

Students should retrieve items they may need to begin their online courses March 23, and access to residence halls and fraternity and sorority houses will be available to do so. Fraternity and sorority houses will be closed except for the retrieval of belongings.

Students who have specific needs that require them to return or remain in their on-campus residence hall room, must complete the form titled “COVID-19 Housing Intention Form” in the MSU Housing Portal, which can be found at the top right side of Housing and Residence Life’s website at https://www.housing.msstate.edu/.

Likewise, other students who have lived on campus and have specific needs that require them to return or remain on campus will be accommodated in on-campus housing through the Department of Housing and Residence Life. Should a student have a specific need, please complete the same form titled “COVID-19 Housing Intention Form” found in the MSU Housing Portal at the top right side of Housing and Residence Life’s website at https://www.housing.msstate.edu/.

These forms will be reviewed, and a member of the Housing and Residence Life staff will follow up with each student to confirm them remaining in or returning to their on-campus residence or to confirm a housing assignment. Campus dining and other services will be available to students on a limited basis.
