STARKVILLE, Miss.—A special hour-long documentary about Mississippi State’s 1996 run to the Final Four men’s basketball championship will air Friday [Oct. 21] on MSTV, the university’s cable television channel.

To begin at 8 p.m., “Those Boys from State” was produced earlier this year by Derek Rogers, a former student now serving as general manager for Columbus’ WCBI-TV, the Golden Triangle’s CBS affiliate.

Rogers’ creation mixes original station broadcast footage of the Bulldogs in hardcourt action with present-day interviews of former team and staff members, as well as TV station employees during that time.

A high-definition channel, MSTV is available at 98/78 on Starkville’s MaxxSouth cable channel and statewide on C Spire Fiber TV channel 80.

“It will continue to run in regular rotation on our channel,” said David Garraway, MSTV general manager and director of MSU’s Television Center.

Garraway said the TV Center “always has valued the strong partnership we have with local media outlets.

“WCBI’s documentary is a fitting tribute to a special group of men who brought new heights of success to MSU 20 years ago, and we are honored to work with the Columbus station to bring attention to this magical team,” he added.
