STARKVILLE, Miss.—Mississippi State University’s Adkerson School of Accountancy’s graduate and undergraduate programs are once again rated among the nation’s best by a leading accounting newsletter.

The 2016 Commerce Clearing House Public Accounting Report ranks both the Adkerson School of Accountancy’s master’s and undergraduate programs No. 3 nationally among programs with 15 or fewer fulltime faculty, up from No. 14 and No. 12 rankings in 2015, respectively.

MSU’s accounting programs also are among the nation’s best regardless of faculty size. The master’s accounting program is ranked No. 28, while the undergraduate program came in ranked at No. 31. The 2016 rankings mark the accounting school’s first entry into the top 50 of the overall rankings. The rankings are based on a survey of accounting professors from across the country.

“We have an excellent accounting program with top-notch faculty, and we graduate some very talented individuals,” MSU College of Business Dean Sharon Oswald said. “It means a great deal to me that accounting faculty nationwide recognize the outstanding job our faculty members do in preparing these students for meaningful careers in accounting.”

In addition to the national recognition, the Adkerson School of Accountancy was recognized on a regional level. The 2016 rankings list MSU’s undergraduate programs at No. 7 in the South and graduate programs at No. 8.

“The 2016 Public Accounting Report rankings confirm that the Adkerson School of Accountancy provides excellent undergraduate and graduate accounting education,” School of Accountancy Director Shawn Mauldin said. “These rankings, in conjunction with high placement rates and separate AACSB accounting accreditation, is truly a testament to our outstanding faculty and high-quality accounting students.”

Housed in MSU’s College of Business, the Adkerson School of Accountancy graduates approximately 100 bachelor’s degree candidates and 35-40 master’s degree candidates every year.  The accounting program has a 100 percent job placement rate. The school offers a bachelor’s in accountancy and an accounting minor for undergraduate students. For graduate students, the school offers professional accountancy and taxation master’s programs.
