STARKVILLE, Miss.—William “Will” Staggers is the new assistant director of development for the Mississippi State University Extension Service and the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences.
The Starkville native earned his bachelor’s degree in kinesiology from MSU’s College of Education in 2010 and joined the high school faculty in Quitman as a physical science teacher and football coach.
He later returned to Starkville and began working for Shelter Insurance, where he spent three years gaining valuable experience in customer service, financial reporting and development. Staggers then assumed the role of accounts payable specialist with MSU’s Department of Procurement and Contracts.
Beginning this month, Staggers joins fundraising efforts with fellow alumnus Jud Skelton, director of development for the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences. Staggers’ position will extend to the Mississippi Agriculture and Forestry Experiment Station (MAFES) and the MSU Extension Service, both of which serve all of Mississippi’s 82 counties.
Staggers’ responsibility to secure funds for the land-grant university’s second oldest college also will bolster support for MSU’s ongoing capital campaign, Infinite Impact.
“We are proud to welcome Will to our fundraising team and believe that his proven leadership and dedication to customer service will be beneficial to his involvement with alumni and philanthropy on behalf of the university,” said Jack McCarty, executive director of development for the MSU Foundation.
