ORED Seminar Series: NIH Program Officer

The Office of Research and Economic Development will host the virtual seminar NIH Program Officer, featuring Lyric Jorgenson, NIH acting director of the Office of Science Policy, from 12:30-2 p.m. Jan. 19.

Data sharing is becoming an expected part of research. To promote openness and transparency, many funding agencies require data produced as a part of a funded project to be made widely available. NSF, USDA-NIFA, DOD, DOE, and most recently, the NIH. The NIH Policy for Data Management and Sharing goes into effect Jan. 25. This policy applies to “all research, funded or conducted in whole or in part by NIH, that results in the generation of scientific data.”

Jorgenson will discuss the impetus behind this policy and the many benefits of data management and sharing. We will also have representatives from MSU to discuss the many resources the university has available to help you write and comply with your plan.

Responsible Conduct of Research credit will be given for attendance.
