Grant Presidential Library

Perhaps no state did more to advance and propel the career of Ulysses S. Grant than Mississippi. Thus, it stands to reason that his memoirs are housed at Mississippi State – one of only six universities in the country to host a presidential library.

Audio Transcription: What does it mean to preserve history? Why look back when we still have so far to go? As home to the Ulysses S. Grant Presidential Library, Mississippi State University has assembled a staggering array of artifacts from the famed civil war general and president, along with one of the largest collections of Abraham Lincoln memorabilia in the world. This state-of-the-art museum is one of only six on-campus presidential libraries, providing unprecedented access into the lives and careers of two of America's greatest leaders. Visitors can peruse Grant's memoirs or immerse themselves in the acclaimed Frank J. And Virginia Williams collection of Lincolniana. Both offer hidden insights into one of most pivotal eras in our nation's history. At Mississippi State, to preserve history is to magnify its valuable lessons, to cultivate understanding and share it with the world, because the more we shine the light of understanding on our past, the brighter the future can be for all of us.
