MSU’s EcoCar Mobility Challenge Team provided Mark E. Keenum, university president, with an update on their progress as they enter the fourth year of this national competition sponsored by the U.S. Department of Energy. Giving Keenum, at left, the car’s progress report were graduate student Rachel Hendricks, Hoover, Alabama; associate professor Randy Follett, electrical and computer engineering; and sophomore Nathan Reynolds, Petal. As the premier collegiate automotive engineering contest, the challenge involves 11 U.S. universities applying advanced propulsion systems and SAE Level 2 autonomy, combined with V2X connectivity, to improve a 2019 Chevrolet Blazer’s energy consumption.
