Ringing for Orion

Craig McLean, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration assistant administrator for Oceanic and Atmospheric Research, holds a commemorative cowbell in front of the Orion supercomputer at Mississippi State. The new computer, funded by NOAA and housed at MSU's High Performance Computing Collaboratory, is the fourth-fastest computer system in U.S. academia. MSU and NOAA celebrated Orion with a ribbon-cutting Wednesday [Dec. 18].
