Curt Todd of Meridian, left, learns how to properly suture wounds from Dr. Brittany Moore-Henderson, community outreach veterinarian at MSU's College of Veterinary Medicine. Todd is a participant in Rural Medical and Science Scholars, a program for high school juniors who want to explore careers in health or science. The program focuses on growing local doctors in addition to broadening knowledge about STEM careers and healthcare opportunities. Scholars take two pre-med courses at MSU, shadow a physician in a hospital or clinical setting, tour a major medical facility, and attend practical learning workshops relevant to a career in health or science.
