A Voice for Feminism
A large crowd in Lee Hall's Bettersworth Auditorium attended Alicia Garza's presentation "Say Her Name: Gender, Feminism and the Black Lives Matter Movement" on Tuesday [March 8]. Garza, co-founder of the social media hashtag #blacklivesmatter and central figure for the Black Lives Matter movement, spoke as part of the Mississippi State University Gender Studies program's Women's History Month celebration. She focused on including the struggles of black women in conversations about both racial and gender equality.
