The American Legion Auxiliary Girls State Program begins today as the participants register at Griffis Hall. Girls State has provided high school juniors across the United States the opportunity to participate in a hands-on citizenship training program for more than 60 years. This week these young ladies from Mississippi will learn about government by creating a fictional state through the election of public officials on local, county, and state levels and then carrying out the duties of these respective offices.
